This two bedroom pied a terre is located on the second floor of a busy crosstown street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Previous renovations had created dark chamber-like rooms devoid of character and space. The clients wanted to completely update the apartment, soundproof the windows and create a welcoming home away from home.
The original herringbone floor in the living room was preserved, while new oak flooring was installed to visually unify the public rooms. The powder room was treated as an immersive space with dark venetian plaster on all surfaces.
Modern and eclectic lighting and furniture were combined to create a clean and comfortable space filled with personality.
